Please keep in mind that messages you send to us over the Internet via email may not be secure. Do not send us any confidential or personal information over the Internet via email unless you have logged in to Direct Federal Web Banking and use the secure Contact Us link in the left navigation bar. We maintain appropriate physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to ensure the security, integrity and privacy of your personal information within our company.
Only those employees who require your personal information to perform a specific job are granted access to your personally identifiable financial information. Furthermore, all employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices. Why your transactions are safe with us
We take your security and privacy very seriously and always go the extra step to protect your information and your money. Industry-leading technology protects our banking systems. Sophisticated business procedures verify your identity and ensure all requests related to your account come directly from you. Transfers from your Direct Federal accounts can only be made to linked accounts you have pre-designated and authorized.
We ensure your security online through sophisticated encryption that turns every Direct Federal online transaction into an unreadable mathematical formula. We even go an extra step when securing your account online by requesting your account number and unique web banking passcode.
Direct Federal is a federally chartered financial institution. As such, we are required by law to maintain a certain level of privacy protection and strong security protections. Our privacy and security programs are regulated and reviewed by the National Credit Union Association (NCUA). If we are not secure or we do not protect customer information, we would be shut down. Periodically we conduct third-party reviews of our network to independently assess the integrity and security of our network and systems.
How we protect your Credit and Debit Cards against fraudulent use
Direct Federal will monitor the activity on your Credit or Debit Card accounts to detect any differences from your ordinary spending patterns. You may receive a telephone call asking you to verify activity on your account. If any transaction was made fraudulently, we will assist you in blocking your account and help you open a new account.
Additional protection is available for both Credit and Debit Cards to password protect your online purchases at participating merchants.
- Credit Card: You can enroll in Verified by Visa.
- Debit Card: You can enroll in MasterCard SecureCode.
How we protect your online security
Keeping your financial and personal information secure and confidential is one of our most important responsibilities. Our systems are protected, so information remains secure.
- Computer virus protection detects and prevents computer viruses from entering our computer network systems.
- Firewalls block unauthorized access by individuals or networks to protect our computer network systems that interact with the Internet.
- Secure transmissions ensure information remains confidential. Direct Federal uses encryption technology such as Secure Socket Layer (SSL) on its websites to transmit information between you and the credit union.
- To send us secure email, you must log in to Web Banking and click on Contact Us. Because an email response back to you will not be secure, we will not include confidential account information in any email response and we will not ask for personal information, such as passcodes and PINs, through email. Besides email, you can reach us by contacting our Call Center at 781.455.6500.
New advances in security technology are constantly evaluated to ensure that we provide protection for your information.
