Direct Federal Credit Union names Franklin High School student as scholarship recipient; awards $3,000 to senior Nichole Carvalho. 06/27/2018

Direct Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce Nicole Carvalho of Franklin High School as a recipient of the Direct Federal Values in Practice Scholarship Program. Carvalho joins two other students within Norfolk County who have received $3,000 each as scholarship recipients.

The scholarship was presented at the Franklin High School Scholarship Night. Representing Direct Federal was Dave Walsh, Director of Community Relations.

Carvalho was selected based on her personal essay that demonstrated use of Direct Federal values (drive, integrity, resilience, engagement, competence and teamwork) in her everyday life.

Carvalho will attend University of Rhode Island in the fall.

Dave Walsh, Director of Community Relations at Direct Federal Credit Union, said, “It was a pleasure to recognize this exemplary Franklin High School student. Nichole’s essay was well-crafted and inspiring. We are confident she will continue her success in pursuit of a college degree.”

Walsh will look to extend Direct Federal’s relationships with schools in Norfolk County through an expanded scholarship program and the introduction of a financial literacy program.
