DirectGiving Program

Our DirectGiving program demonstrates our commitment to making a positive difference in the communities we serve by integrating our community engagement efforts into our every day business and leveraging our strengths and resources to make the greatest impact.

DirectGiving is compromised of three areas of focus, Philanthropy, Volunteerism, and Financial Literacy, each of which allow us to give back to the community in a meaningful way.

In the last five years, Direct Federal has donated almost $500,000 to worthy causes in Norfolk and Middlesex County. We are committed to supporting organizations within the following major categories: education, health, and hunger relief. We also welcome the opportunity to assist organizations in areas that we have a high membership base and/or a business partnership. Philanthropic donations are made to organizations that the IRS has granted 501c3 status. Our philanthropic efforts include monetary donations, event sponsorships, and scholarships through area schools, including Franklin High, Newton North and South, Dedham High, and Watertown High.

Direct Federal is a community-chartered credit union and at the core of our institution is our commitment our community. We believe our purpose is greater than offering great rates, easy access, and remarkable member service. And it's just as important to our employees. We identify, find, and promote opportunities for our employees to give back to the community. and offer our employees up to twenty-four hours of paid time off that they can use to volunteer in the community. 61% of our employees have volunteered this year and will reach 500 hours of volunteer time by the end of the year. We empower our team members to volunteer and give back in their community by celebrating volunteerism and promoting involvement on boards and committees of local organizations.

Financial Education

At Direct Federal, we firmly believe in providing our members and community with the resources and educational seminars to feel empowered to meet their financial goals. We offer free financial education tools through our online personal financial education center, DirectLIFE. We sponsor financial education programs in 6 schools within Norfolk and Middlesex County, Cohasset Middle/High School, Concord Carlisle High, North Reading High, Sharon High, Watertown High, and Westford Academy. Within these schools we have 320 students using our financial literacy program. Additionally, we hold seminars for employees at area businesses. With topics ranging from "Understanding your Credit" to "How to Build a Budget" to "Which Savings Account is Right for You" we believe in empowering employers to contribute to the financial wellness of their employees.

If you know of an organization that would benefit from our DirectGiving program, please reach out to Kristen Johnson, AVP Sales and Marketing, by email, KJohnson@Direct.com, or by phone, 781.433.2900 ext 215.
