The directors, management, and staff of Direct Federal Credit Union are concerned about and respect the privacy of our members' personal financial information. We understand that our members furnish sensitive information to the credit union in the course of daily business and the credit union is committed to treating such information responsibly. We know our members expect privacy and sensitivity for their personal and financial affairs.
Direct Federal will take all the necessary steps to safeguard sensitive information that has been entrusted to us by our members. The following Privacy Policy outlines practices regarding personally identifiable financial information for members and others with whom we establish a "member relationship" pursuant to the National Credit Union Administration's Rules and Regulations.
Types of Information Direct Federal Collects and May Disclose
We collect non-public personal information about our members and non-members, as described below:
- Information we receive from members on applications, forms or by phone such as name, address, social security number, date of birth, employer, income and assets;
- Information about member transactions processed on your behalf with us, our affiliates or others such as account balance, payment history, credit card usage, ATM/Debit card usage, information from checks, electronic transfers and parties to transactions;
- Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency, such as credit worthiness and credit history; and
- Information we provide to select non-affiliated third parties that is authorized or requested by members, such as a deposit or loan verification.
We may disclose all of the information we collect about our members, former members and non-members, as described above, to third parties only as permitted by law. We may disclose all of the information we collect, as described above, to companies that perform marketing services soley intended to promote Direct Federal's products and services.
Safeguarding Member Information
We restrict access to non-public personal information about our members to those employees, board, and volunteer committee members who have a need to know that information to provide members with products and services. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard our members' non-public personal information.
Links to Other Web Sites
It has become a common practice for organizations with web sites to provdie hypertext links to other web sites with related information. Direct Federal will only provide links to affliated party providers or to non-affiliated sites that offer value-added information to assist you with making financial decisions. These other web sites are not subject to Direct Federal's Privacy Policy and we recommend that you review the privacy policy at each such web site to determine how the site protects your privacy. Direct Federal does not provide, and it not responsible for the services, products, or overall web site content that are offered on linked web sites.
Children's Online Privacy Protection Act Notice
Direct Federal does not knowingly solicit individually identifiable personal information from or about children online, and does not knowingly market our products and services to children online. We fully support protecting children's identities and privacy online, and recognize the responsibility to do so rests with both the online industry and with the parents.
